I visited Brick Street Cafe this past Friday while in Greenville,SC for lunch. I had the vegetable quiche and it was fair. It had been over baked and almost cool when served. They are known for their cakes and tried their sweet potato cupcake. It was delicious. So yes for the cake!
The portion for the grilled cheese was small. It tasted good, but it looked like hamburger buns was used for the bread, which was a bit disappointing. I was hungry after finishing it and my side of soup. It was a tomato dill soup which wasn't bad, but I discovered dill isn't my kind of flavor. The fresh squeezed lemonade was nothing special. We got the sweet potato cake which was very moist and tasted lovely! It was my first time having that kind of cake.
My boyfriend got the special turkey wrap with a side of fresh fruit. The wrap was fine, but he was very disappointed that there were canned peaches and pineapples used. That's not "fresh" fruit. It's even currently peach season! So there's definitely no excuse to not use fresh peaches in a side of "fresh fruit."
Not sure why I saw on Google reviews that this place is romantic, because when we went there were lots of parents with young kids and older groups. The sound ambience was a bit on the loud side and while the staff was nice, it was the level of service I could expect eating out.
I actually stopped to pick up a large sweet potato cake the day before Thanksgiving. (I'd placed my order a month prior.) I think my family in GA was "iffy" about my contribution to the meal; however, it was the HUGE HIT that I knew it would be!
My family and I stopped in near closing on a Saturday with the idea to get some cake for dessert. We had been craving a good cake for weeks and let me tell you Brick Street Cafe delivered. We tried the German chocolate cake and sweet potato cake and both were so good. Our daughter has now declared she wants sweet potato cake for every birthday from now on. Everyone we came into contact with was so friendly and welcoming and showed no sign of rushing us out the door. I look forward to coming back to Brick Street Cafe and trying their food menu next.
They make a REALLY GOOD tomato soup. The interior is interesting… definitely not what I anticipated. They got good cake slices too. I will say that the price points are a little bit more than I desired, but it was a great meal.
The atmosphere was amazing! This was our first time eating here. The chicken salad sandwich was good. I would suggest asking if you want it grilled or not. I didn’t think to ask and only ate one piece of the bread. The bread pieces were huge! The coleslaw was grey in color, which means it’s not fresh! It probably would have been delicious, had it been fresh! The sweet potato cake was great! We had a great server which always helps with the experience.
We love this place! Best shrimp and grits in Greenville. The Love Muffin is delicious and of course the cakes are amazing. Have had the Sweet Potato Cake and the German Chocolate Cake. It never disappoints. Friendly staff and I have personally met Sara and can tell she puts a lot of pride in her team and restaurant.
I LOVE this place—it is home. The staff really treats you like family, and the interior is a very eccentric, colorful space that brings up so many liminal memories for some reason. It’s full of quirky traditions and local legends, like Mrs. Sue and the cake walk. It almost feels like you’re teleported back to a time when humans interacted with each other and we weren’t so obsessed with tech or money. And the food and cakes are exquisite. GO TODAY if you haven’t been!!!
